Pacific Halibut Fishing from La Push

Plan around confirmed halibut openings, choose shared seats or a private boat, and prepare for a full ocean fishing day.

THE SHORT ANSWER

KYS offers private and shared full-day Pacific Halibut trips from La Push. After we get our halibut, we target sea bass. Choose individual seats or reserve the boat for your family and friends.

Private boat or shared seats?

A private Pacific Halibut trip reserves the Safari for your party, with room for up to six anglers. Shared Pacific Halibut seats let a smaller group join other anglers. Compare both on Trips & Pricing before choosing a date; the captain confirms the trip and its details.

Book an opening, not just a month

Halibut fishing has designated openings rather than an everyday summer schedule. KYS offers trips in May, June, August and occasional September openings. Use the booking calendar or contact Capt. Lamont for available halibut dates.

Expect a full day and a more demanding outing

Complete beginners are welcome on halibut trips, with gear provided and patient instruction. Halibut fishing can involve heavier tackle and a full day on the ocean, so tell Capt. Lamont about your group’s comfort on boats, motion-sickness history and physical limitations. He can help you decide whether this outing or a shorter introduction is the better fit.

Halibut first, then sea bass

After we get our halibut, we target sea bass to round out your fishing day. It is a chance to enjoy another style of fishing and add variety to the catch you bring home.

Prepare before leaving home

Confirm the required Washington fishing license and halibut catch-record requirements with WDFW. Bring layers, rain gear, food and water. Leave a cooler in your vehicle for your fish. Arrange an overnight stay nearby if a long drive would make the departure rushed.
