4-Hour vs. 5-Hour Charter Guide

Compare time, target species and your crew’s comfort before choosing between the two main bottomfish trips.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Choose the 4-hour Nearshore Rockfish trip for a shorter day focused on rockfish. Choose the 5-hour Offshore/Ext. Nearshore Rockfish and Lingcod trip when lingcod and more ocean time are priorities. Both are listed “or limits.”

The 4-hour choice: Nearshore Rockfish

Choose Nearshore Rockfish for a shorter ocean outing focused on rockfish. It is listed at 4 hours or limits and $225 per angler. This is a useful option for first-time anglers or visitors combining fishing with other Olympic Peninsula plans.

The 5-hour choice: Rockfish and Lingcod

Choose Offshore/Ext. Nearshore Rockfish and Lingcod for a longer outing targeting both species. It is listed at 5 hours or limits and $299 per angler. The extra time gives your crew more fishing range and an opportunity to enjoy both rockfish and lingcod fishing.

What the extra hour changes

The difference is $74 per angler, or $296 for a party of four. Choose the longer trip when your group wants more time on the water and lingcod as a target. The 4-hour trip is a good fit for a shorter fishing day focused on rockfish.

What both trips include

No fishing experience is required for either trip. Both provide rods, reels, tackle, bait and patient instruction from Capt. Lamont aboard the 31-foot Safari, with a heated cabin and private bathroom. Both shared-seat trips require three total booked anglers to operate. One or two people can request seats; your party does not have to supply all three.

Choose for the whole group

If a child or adult is uncertain about ocean time, ask about the 2-Hour Express Fishing option. If lingcod is the main reason for coming, discuss the 5-hour trip. Capt. Lamont confirms departure timing around tides and weather, so check with him before locking in the rest of your day.
