THE SHORT ANSWER
If KYS Outdoor Adventures cancels your trip, your deposit is refunded under the current direct-booking policy. You can discuss another available date with Capt. Lamont. Customer cancellations have a separate rule: cancel at least seven days before the scheduled trip for a full deposit refund; cancellations inside seven days forfeit the deposit.

Who makes the weather decision?
Capt. Lamont decides whether the trip can operate safely. Conditions at the dock or in a town weather forecast do not tell the whole ocean story. Wind, swell and conditions near the harbor entrance can affect the plan. A rainy forecast does not automatically cancel a charter, and a sunny forecast does not guarantee suitable boating conditions.
If KYS cancels your trip
The current direct-booking policy states that your deposit is refunded when KYS cancels. Contact Capt. Lamont if you would like to discuss an alternative date. Another trip depends on available space and suitable conditions; it is not automatically reserved. A payment authorization that has not been captured is different from a charged deposit and may be released rather than refunded.
If you decide to cancel
Customer cancellations are handled separately. Cancel at least seven days before the scheduled trip for a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations made fewer than seven days before the trip forfeit the deposit. If a forecast worries you, contact the captain before cancelling on your own. Do not assume an unconfirmed weather concern changes the customer cancellation terms.
Keep your phone available and confirm timing
Watch for updates using the contact details supplied with your request. Let the captain know about travel constraints and keep your contact information current. Final departure timing depends on the trip, tides and weather. Do not assume that an earlier or later departure fixes unsuitable conditions; any timing change must be agreed with the captain.
Build flexibility into the rest of your visit
If fishing is the main reason for your trip, a backup date can give you more options. Read lodging and other travel providers’ cancellation terms separately; the charter deposit policy does not establish their refund policies. Leave room in your itinerary for a different activity if the boat cannot go. Confirm any new fishing date before rearranging your other reservations.
Gift certificates and outside booking platforms
Gift-certificate trips involve no new cash payment when the certificate covers the outing. Contact Capt. Lamont about using the certificate for another date rather than expecting a cash refund. If you booked through a different platform, contact the captain and that provider about the applicable terms and payment handling. Review the terms attached to your own reservation.
